Recently I've struggled a lot with the despair that comes from deferred dreams. The first half of this short book was good, but throughout I felt myself thinking, "Yes, I know that, but..." For example, "I know I shouldn't give up, but I'm so tired of hoping when nothing ever seems to turn out right." Or, "I know I need to fight the battle in my mind, but I'm too weary." Or, everybody's favorite, "I know that God said this in the Bible, so it must be true, but where's the evidence? All around me I see proof of lies instead of truth."But the second half blew me away. The revelations of God's goodness and His love for me were exactly what I needed. God gave me breakthrough through this book.If you've been wrestling with any of the same things I have, read this book. You know God didn't set it before you by accident!
I found this read to be just so inspiring! It was exactly what I needed today!!! So much encouragement and enlightenment. I highlighted many passages, but one of my favorites was this one:"Uncertainty causes some people to misunderstand who God is. They begin to deny God's true nature and embrace sickness and disease, poverty and mental anguish as gifts from God. That is a devastating lie from hell. It's actually blasphemous to attribute to God the work of the devil. But many Christians want answers so badly during times of uncertainty that they invent theological answers to make themselves feel good about their present condition..."It is easy to be faithful and trust in God when you are happy, healthy, and stable. It's another thing entirely to trust Him when it seems all is lost. This book was such a beautiful reminder to be faithful and have trust every day. Not just the easy ones!!!
Very encouraging and practical. I loved this book. If you're going through a rough time, this is a must read.
Very simple reading. Bill Johnson breaks it down in scripture that even I understood it. 😉 It's a book that I can read again and again..
Few books today impress me with their lame theology. This book is sooo different! I pray every pastor of every church will read and take this teaching to heart. My only complaint is this booklet is far too short. I shall search for more books by this man of God who is filled with the Holy Spirit!
All of Bill Johnson's material is inspiring and very well researched. IMO. Just watch out that you are not been lured by the reseller to buy twice, since it is an excerpt from another book of Bill's - The Supernatural Power of a Transformed Mind.
You will miss the heavy, fullness of a prophet's teaching. If you have the opportunity to hear him in person developed your shorthand skills because you will find it necessary to ponder on the truth he is teaching.
I was seeking inspiration for perseverance through some personal challenges, and this book has certainly provided the information and inspiration that I was seeking!
