This is especially true when they are well selected, as the compiler for this book has done. Many quotations have a person's lifetime of experience and wisdom packed into a tidbit of few words. Or from Brigitte Bardo: "It is sad to grow old but nice to ripen."That's what I'm doing by reading this book, in bits of course--I'm ripening my wisdom! I'm sure you will too. This book is a bargain and worth keeping in your ebook library. I also love that Underwood typewriter photo on the cover--just like the one I had in my high school typing class. I'm also glad the first category in this collection is "Age." Once I get through that one, everything else will be easier. So this book can prolong your life--or at least make it more enjoyable.
This book is awesome. It has quotes from some many people, and for every emotion, event, activity or anything you can think of. This really is quite an extensive compilation.I was harboring some anger when I sat to read it. Anger quotes were pretty early on, as the quotes are listed alphabetically. I read some of the anger quotes and started to slowly realize that holding onto that anger was doing me no good. The person who angered me didn't care. Only I did. This was the quote that hit me hardest;Bitterness is like cancer. It eats upon the host.But anger is like fire. It burns it all clean.~ Maya AngelouIt was a realization that this wasn't just a book of quotes. It's also a refresher for whatever life throws our way. Nevermore looking for another quotations book. The Ultimate Book of Quotations is excellent.This was a gift for my sister, but after flipping through I wanted one for myself. DELIGHTED to find I could get an e-copy for $0.99 so downloaded immediately.I really like the Contents with quotes listed by genre: Age, Birthday, Computers, Dad, Equality, Faith, Government, Health, Intelligence, Life, Marriage, Nature, Parenting, Religion, Sports, Travel, Wedding; just a few categories listed. As a user, I would have liked quoted persons to be entered alphabetically ... lots more work for Joseph Demakis who compiled and arranged the quotations. Perhaps he can do another edition adding this feature?I browsed several quotation books, but reviews for The Ultimate Book of Quotations were positive so chanced the purchase. Glad I did. Because of the format, which makes it great for writers, researchers ... anyone needing a quick quote for their project, this is a nice addition for your reference library.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Would buy again.
Some of the quotations were repeated within the same category, others has nothing to do with the theme they were included in, and sometimes the same quote was adjudicated to two different personalities. There were also spelling and punctuation mistakes.
This is easily the best reference source for quotes that I have ever come across in Kindle format. There are 500+ pages jam packed with quotes, all sorted alphabetically and by category. Topics range from Age to Family and from Death to Work. I consider this book a definite must have resource for writers of all kinds or for anyone looking to spice of a speech with anecdotes which support their point of view. I like to use the book for reflection over an issue that may be troubling me just to see how minds that will always be far greater than mine feel about the situation. However you decide to use "The Ultimate book of Quotations ," I am sure you will be be quite satisfied with your purchase.
This is the ultimate book of quotations with over 500 pages. It has quotations of every subject that I can think of. Sometimes in my writing works, I have to insert a quotation and I could easily search for one using the Kindle reader. For example, this is the one I selected when I search for photography related quotations. "You don't take a photography, you make it" by Ansel Adams. I also use it for stress relieving reading where the words of wise men and women come through to me again through this book.This book is a compulsory addition to any reference collection.
While the book's use of the word "Ultimate" in the title is a little over-reaching, the book has a quote for most of your needs. It's arranged so the sections present the quotes in an easy to search format and make finding what you want painless.I would recommend this book to my friends who are looking for an easy to use source of quotes for their photos, memes, e-cards, etc.
This book is divided into topics- i.e. there are sections of quotes on Health, Happiness, Marriage, etc, but it's such good reading that I've been going page by page. Fantastic compilation of quotes from a vast swathe of international celebrities, both past and present. Very well done sir!
